DETROIT, MI
Jalen Rose Leadership Academy (JRLA) is proud to announce the appointment of a new Director of Basketball, marking an exciting step forward in the continued growth of our athletic and leadership-based development programs.
The Academy welcomes Jimmy King as Director of Basketball, bringing with him a legacy of excellence, leadership, and deep ties to the Detroit community. A member of the iconic University of Michigan's "Fab Five," King's experience at the highest levels of basketball and his commitment to mentorship make him uniquely positioned to elevate JRLA's program.
In this role, King will oversee the development of JRLA's boys and girls basketball programs, support coaching staff, and help cultivate a culture rooted in discipline, teamwork, and excellence.
"I see how you all do things here," said King. "The culture that y'all have developed is amazing and I'm excited to get to work."
JRLA, founded by NBA veteran and Detroit native Jalen Rose, has built a reputation for academic excellence and holistic student development. With a 95% cumulative graduation rate and 100% college and postsecondary acceptance, the school continues to invest in opportunities that shape scholars into well-rounded individuals.
The addition of a Director of Basketball at the leadership of Jazmine Allen (Principal) and Demarcus Wingate (Athletic Director) signals JRLA's commitment to strengthening our athletic programs while reinforcing academic rigor.
"This just feels right," said Founder, Jalen Rose. "It makes perfect sense and I couldn't be happier to have my worlds collide in such an impactful way."
As JRLA continues to grow with expansion efforts underway to our new facility in SY2027, this new chapter in our basketball program reflects a broader vision: developing scholar-athletes who excel in competition, in the classroom, and in life.

Thank you very much! Poor Bunny
