Jalen Rose tackles Detroit’s education gap by opening Jalen Rose Leadership Academy, a charter school for some of the city’s most at-risk kids. The former NBA star and ESPN/ABC sports analyst, continues to live in his hometown of Detroit and now gives back to the community that raised him.
When asked why he hasn't left the area for bigger cities like New York or Atlanta, Jalen said "They don't need me. They didn't raise me. The have it all figured out ." He hopes his charter school will serve as a catalyst and inspiration for educational reform in the Detroit-metro.
